MR. PETER'S STORY

Mr. Peter (Sroka) composes songs and plays for integrated learning.
Currently, he sings with students (PreK - Grade 5) at 5 San Francisco Public Schools.
During the pandemic, he created music videos for "SF Loves Learning" on KTVS.
Some of those videos are linked to this website.

Born and raised on the New Jersey Shore, Peter started singing in church and
playing piano with Aunt Alice at about age 7.  Throughout childhood he enjoyed writing songs, drawing pictures, and performing.  When he was 10, his grandmother took him to Czechoslovakia to visit family and that changed him somehow.

First concerts:  Elton John, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel.

Peter performed multiple roles in plays and musicals at Monmouth University while earning a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Peace Corps and spent 3 years teaching in  Sierra Leone, West Africa.

When he returned he worked as a classroom teacher for Los Angeles public schools. (7 yrs).

During that time he played leading roles in musical theater productions throughout LA and vicinity.

National Tours (Sesame Street Live and Mikado)

Masters in International Education (Harvard U.)

Since joining SFUSD several years ago, he has taken students to perform at ACT (American Conservatory Theater), the De Young Museum, The ASIAN Museum, City Hall, The Philippine Consulate, and more.

Travel, Education, and the Arts have always been key to his identity and lifestyle, connectivity and creativity.

In fact, he met his husband Ernie/Ernesto in 1995, singing with GMCLA.

They have been in several shows together throughout the years.

Mr. Peter is very close with his parents and brothers despite the physical distance.  Most summers, they manage to reunite on the Jersey Shore.
